A: The average cost of a new aerial installation including; digital aerial, pole, bracket & coax cable to 1 TV socket costs around £150-£180. Extra TV sockets/points will cost £40 on average. A replacement aerial installed on an existing pole & bracket or loft installation will typically cost £80-£130.

 

Q: How long does it take to install a TV aerial?

A: The average time it takes to install a new aerial including; digital aerial, pole, bracket & coax cable to 1 TV socket takes around 1-2 hours. Extra TV sockets/points will take around 30 mins - 1hr on average. A replacement aerial installed on an existing pole & bracket or loft installation will typically take 45 mins - 1.5 hours.

 

Q: Do old TV aerials still work?

A: TV aerials are all capable of receiving terrestrial television transmissions. In some circumstances an old TV aerial may not be the right antenna group. An old wideband aerial may be good enough to receive & provide digital Freeview channels, if you're not receiving full coverage you may need a specialist to test & possibly replace an old aerial.

Q: Are indoor TV aerials any good?

A: For an indoor TV aerial to be any use, you need a good strong signal from your TV transmitter. For the best indoor aerial reception you need a television transmitter close to your property. If you cannot receive Freeview channels then you may need a TV aerial installed in your attic or fitted to the outside of your house.

Q: What to do if your TV aerial doesn't work?

A: Best to check the obvious first; check the coax connector is fully inserted into the back of your TV, check your fly leads & aerial cables & make sure they're not loose or wet (if your external cable is defective water may have leaked inside it & can cause serious problems), check your TV has the right source input selected & is on TV not HDMI or some other selection, try retuning your television set, is your TV or Freeview box faulty (try another TV to see if you can receive channels on the replacement), If your TV aerial has a booster or signal amplifier check that it's switched on also check the fuse & if you have one power supply unit, it could also be your TV aerial itself if so you may need to contact a specialist to test you aerial system.
